ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum offered an opinion on Brian Kelly's firing at LSU on Monday, saying "no one believed" in him anymore.
During an appearance on ESPN's Get Up, Paul Finebaum was asked about LSU's decision to fire Kelly. He made a strong statement, saying Kelly not only lost on the field but also lost the support of the people in power and even the players in the locker room.
On Sunday, LSU fired head coach Brian Kelly, who was in his fourth season with the program. During an appearance on First Takeon Monday, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum revealed whether he believes it was necessary for LSU to part ways with Kelly.

Paul Finebaum throws out a possible frontrunner for LSU opening
ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum believes there is one "home run" hire for the Tigers and they don't have to look far. He named Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin as a name to watch during Monday's Get Up. This is now the second time Finebaum has called Kiffin a perfect fit, but says this time is different.
Paul Finebaum believes Lane Kiffin is the ideal replacement for Brian Kelly at LSU, explaining on ESPN’s Get Up why the Ole Miss coach should prefer the LSU job over Florida and Penn State amid both programs’ coaching searches.
“I don’t think Nick Saban would take it,” Finebaum said. “Nick Saban wouldn’t talk to Penn State. He wouldn’t talk to Florida, but I think he would talk to LSU at least to see what they have to offer.”
Paul Finebaum thinks that Lane Kiffin could end up the LSU football coach, if the school gives Brian Kelly the boot.
Paul Finebaum believes Brian Kelly’s job at LSU is in serious jeopardy after a 49–25 loss to Texas A&M, saying it’s “DEFCON 1” in Baton Rouge. Kelly’s massive $52 million buyout could, however, complicate any immediate move.
