In between the years when Soft Cell was disbanded, Dave Ball went on to form new bands. He formed a new band with his then-wife, Gini Hewes, and Andy Astle, called Other People. They only released one song together called Have a Nice Day.

Dave Ball, a producer and half of the English synth-pop duo Soft Cell, whose 1981 single “Tainted Love” became one of the defining hits of the new wave era, has died at his home in London.

Soft Cell vocalist Marc Almond paid tribute to his bandmate, writing: “Thank you Dave for being an immense part of my life and for the music you gave me. I wouldn't be where I am without you.”
