Catastrophic flooding struck central Texas on Friday as the Guadalupe River surged by more than 20 to 26 feet within 90 minutes, causing widespread devastation and forcing mass evacuations in Texas Hill Country. According to the West Texas Mesonet weather network, portions of San Angelo near the Grape Creek area have seen more than 12 inches of rain since midnight. As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, more than 14 inches of rain have also fallen in the last 24 hours.
