At the sentencing hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Mrs Justice Lambert jailed Graham and Carruthers for four years and three months each for felling the tree. They will also serve six months concurrently for the "collateral" damage they caused to Hadrian's Wall, a Unesco World Heritage Site and protected monument.
