Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Seattle Kraken were the recipients of a beatdown from Macklin Celebrini and the San Jose Sharks.

The Washington star pushed his record total to a new level Wednesday night, scoring against Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues to reach 900.

Selected by the Capitals at the top of the 2004 draft, Ovechkin entered the NHL in 2005 and went on to score more than 45 goals in each of his first five seasons. After scoring a career-high 65 goals in 2008, he became the first player to win the Hart, Art Ross, Rocket Richard and Ted Lindsay awards in the same season.

WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin has done it. The 40-year-old scored his 900th career NHL goal on Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues, a feat no other player has accomplished until now.

Dalibor Dvorsky scored his first NHL goal to start a St. Louis rally, and Pius Suter provided the game-winner with 1:23 to play as the Blues snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-2.
