Filipinos are bracing for the arrival of a new typhoon after one earlier this week left more than 200 people dead.

Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) has intensified on Saturday morning as it continues on its track toward the Philippine landmass. Uwan is expected to reach super typhoon category on Saturday night or Sunday morning,

The Philippines' weather bureau warned of life-threatening storm surges of up to five metres and destructive winds as Typhoon Fung-wong churns toward the country's eastern coast, where it is forecast to intensify into a super typhoon before making landfall on Sunday night.
