The San Diego Padres have reportedly become the top team interested in Boston Red Sox's outfielder Jarren Duran, and it feels like the perfect fit for both sides.
MLB.com lists Lawrence Academy right-hander John Paone as its top draft prospect from Massachusetts. Paone, listed at No. 134 overall on MLB’s rankings, is a 6-foot-3 right-hander with a low-to-mid 90s fastball and some intriguing secondary pitches. He will be a name to watch in the round 4-6 range.
The Boston Red Sox could look to use one of their top talents, Jarren Duran, as a trade piece this season, with the San Diego Padres making sense as a fit.

Garin Cecchini, Anthony Ranaudo and Bogaerts - Cecchini played 35 career games in Boston before getting released. He never reached the bigs again. Ranaudo, who was once viewed as a frontline starter, reached the Majors with unremarkable results and was traded for Robbie Ross.
In ESPN's list of each MLB team's first-half MVP, the answer for the Red Sox was clear in new ace Garrett Crochet.
Crochet finished the first complete shutout game of his career. This is a huge accomplishment for MLB pitchers, and it's somewhat rare to have a complete shutout game. There's no official historic list of pitchers who have achieved this feat, but Crochet has been hypothetically added to that now.
The Red Sox acquired Crochet in a trade with the White Sox that included sending top catching prospect Kyle Teel to Chicago. There were questions about how the left-hander would fare with lofty expectations on him, but Crochet had a 2.34 ERA going into Sunday’s start against the Washington Nationals.
ESPN's Jeff Passan was the latest MLB insider who has linked Jarren Duran as a potential trade target for the Padres.
