By Emma Farge GENEVA (Reuters) -Hurricane Melissa was expected to bring catastrophe as it makes landfall in Jamaica with storm surges, flash floods and landslides in the worst storm to hit the Caribbean island this century,
The storm is expected to make landfall on Tuesday and slice diagonally across the island. Shortly after, it is expected to hit Cuba.
The storm is expected to bring destructive winds and life-threatening and catastrophic flooding and landslides to Jamaica, forecasters say.
The NEXT Weather team at CBS Miami said no direct impacts are expected to South Florida at this time, but indirect impacts such as rip currents and hazardous sea conditions will be possible.
