The New York Giants knew all along when they signed Russell Wilson to a free agent deal this offseason that in an ideal scenario, they would not be counting on him to be the long-term savior of the franchise.

The Giants signed Wilson to a one-year contract worth up to $10.5 million in free agency. They also signed veteran signal-caller Jameis Winston to a two-year deal worth $8 million. And when the 2025 NFL draft rolled around, Giants general manager Joe Schoen traded back into the first round at No. 25 overall to select quarterback Jaxson Dart.
