The mammalian diver reflex is a cheat code to pulling you out of a stressed out state. It slows your heart rate down, calms your nervous system and helps pull you out of a wired, anxious state. It is an inbuilt survival system hardwired into the body designed to keep us alive when the face is exposed to cold water or during a breath hold.
