After World War II, across Europe ( especially in France and the Netherlands ) thousands of women were accused of having relationships with German soldiers. Many of them were punished brutally: their heads were shaved, swastikas painted on their bodies & they were paraded through the streets for the public to mock. The truth is: Most of these women were targeted without solid evidence. Many were punished simply based on suspicion, jealousy, or because they were trying to survive under occupation
